With high summer temperatures here, keeping the heat out of the poultry house becomes the most important job in flock management. Practical experience shows that once the temperature inside a layer house passes 28°C, heat stress and respiratory problems follow easily. Laying rate drops, feed is used less efficiently, and culls and mortality both rise. Ventilation with fans alone only achieves so much. Pairing the fans with a properly specified cooling pad system is what delivers the temperature control you actually want.
How does a cooling pad actually cool the air?
Water from the tank is lifted by a pump, carried along the pipe at the top of the pad, and sprayed downward onto the pad itself.
The water runs down through the corrugated paper and keeps it wet. Hot dry air from outside is drawn through the wet pad, where it becomes cool moist air before it enters the house. That is the cooling effect.
