The air is cold and still, and dew freezes into frost. Today is Frost's Descent (Shuang Jiang), the last solar term of autumn.

Frost's Descent solar term poster with frosted persimmons and autumn leaves

The plants have lost their deep green. Maple leaves have turned red and ginkgo leaves have turned gold. Autumn scenery is at its richest and its gentlest. In the morning mist, a thin layer of white frost lies on the tips of the grass. It is a reminder that autumn is nearly over and winter is quietly coming closer.

There is a folk custom called "building up at Frost's Descent." Many people eat persimmons and pears to ease the dry air and settle the stomach as the days turn cool. The weather is cold and dry, so remember to dress warmly and go to bed early.

There is no need to regret the end of autumn. Frost's Descent holds the last warmth of the harvest and also prepares the quiet of winter. As the days grow colder, we hope you take good care of yourself, keep a warm heart and look forward to the end of the year.
